The true wine lover will not be able to resist making some on his own. Although you might think it is exceptionally complex to pursue the art of wine making at home, you will not need as much expertise as you think. Take some time to learn the step to produce your own wine.

You will need either grapes or their concentrate to begin making wine at home. If you have a sufficient growing area, you may choose to grow your own grapes and make wine from that. Grape concentrate of a lower quality must never be used in making wines. You can get very high grade concentrate online, or you will have to search in a home brewing store. Other items you will need are brewing tools and yeast. Get a whole wine kit instead of getting things one by one as this is a good idea if you are a first time wine maker. After you have had a chance to experiment with wine making at home and decided whether it is an endeavor you wish to continue you might then begin accumulating various pieces of equipment for brewing larger batches of wine.
The number of steps in wine making will be influenced by what you use – grapes or their concentrate, but they will be no fewer than five and no greater than eight. If you are using grapes then the fruit will obviously need to be harvested first. Make sure you remove all the stems from the grapes you harvested. Stems contain bitter tannins.
With the stems removed, you will now have to puncture the skins of the grapes in order to extricate their juices. You can use various tactics to achieve this. Crushing grapes is the most popular method used by professional wine makers. The amount to which you crush the grapes will influence the taste of the wine. If you leave the grapes almost as they are, you will find that the wine will have a fruity aroma.
The step following this is known as primary fermentation. During this process, the yeast will act on the sugar and ferment it. Alcohol and carbon dioxide will be produced so check if you will have to add more yeast. You need more yeast because that allows the conversion to happen in a steady manner because just the yeast that’s present on the grapes won’t be sufficient for that.
After primary fermentation is completed, you can try squeezing more juice out of the grapes. This secondary extract will not be of as superlative quality as the juice obtained from the primary extent. This happens because the free run juice that you got during the initial crushing process had minimal contact with the skins and the stems. However, the juice obtained from the pressing process is not worthless. Press juice is used in the large wineries to increase the total output.
A secondary fermentation occurs in the wine following the pressing process as it is aging. As the wine maker, it will be up to you to determine how long the wine should ferment.
The final stage of wine making is bottling. Wine can be directly added into bottles but you may need to add some sulfites so that the fermentation process can come to an end which will also act as a preservative for the wine. The final step of the whole process is to seal the bottle with a suitable cork.
